Meditation and other ways towards self-discovery

March 17, 2010

I read a blog this morning about meditation and how people struggle to “do it the right way” as if there is such a is merely a tool.

Here is my response to that blog:

Meditation…I agree with you…it is helpful and can be done anywhere…I wanted to mention to you that something  I have found to be useful in  moving to a different level of understanding of myself/self-discovery is to do stream of consciousness writing...that is when you decide to write for a specific number of minutes without restricting yourself to a subject …you just let words flow with no regard to spelling , punctuation, penmanship…you might be writing, I don’t know why I am doing this stupid exercise ( yes, I have written that) or anything.  If you allow yourself the freedom to BE FREE in this exercise, you will always learn something about your feelings and your reality that you did not know before.  It is wonderful…. it is also a great exercise to do with a small group of people who you love.

Also, I have learned that I am 100% responsible for my life and its outcomes. This is very freeing to know … that I am the expert and that everything I need to know ultimately will be told to me by my heart, mind, soul and body if I allow it to speak to me and to  be heard…Obviously this also means that I will observe the world and people around me and hear what is offered; I will make sure I incorporate the wisdom of others.

I hope this has been useful for you.

My blog address is and my website is listed below.

On another note, be sure to check out  It is a new site with a great product and service. Fat…Fat…Fat!!! Lose weight, get fit and healthy…why?

March 9, 2010

I woke up Sunday morning and decided to give myself a much-needed pedicure. …My feet were neglected to say the least…Nasty!  First I removed my nail polish, then I soaked my feet in hot water.  Next, I used the Mary Kay product, Satin Hands, to pamper my feet. The program has several steps and really helps to remove dead skin and leaves you with a rejuvenated feeling and nice, smooth, soft skin.  Then I cleaned the cuticle debris from my feet and I was ready to apply polish.

This is when I once again received a message that I am simply too FAT!.  Attempting to reach my toes and apply the polish was difficult, twisting and turning my legs and feet trying to see the entire toenail at one time. It was not fun and was just one more wake up call and reminder that I am not living the quality of life I would like to live. There are so many things in my life that are impacted by being fat. I am tired of it and will start to keep a running list so that I will notice the full impact to me.  I have been fat for many years…Anything that I do that is physical is not done with ease…going up the stairs, taking a walk, getting in and out of the bathtub to take a bath, not a shower, retrieving items from the lower shelves in the kitchen or from the bottom of a closet…the list goes on and on. It has become a real nuisance, not wanting to park somewhere and walk several blocks  is annoying to people who are a normal weight.  Maybe they would actually LIKE to walk a few blocks!  Frankly it can be a little frightening, not being fit and as agile as I once was.  I know that getting exercise will help me to be more agile and also to be stronger, but it isn’t the entire answer.

I yearn to do whatever I feel like doing…with no limitations…I want to be normal size.

Calories in…calories out…it’s simple and daunting, but necessary and worthwhile..

…what do you think? Do you have the same issues? Are you ready to take a stand for longevity and a higher quality of life?

Wow!  What an exciting night…The Academy Awards …Just about all of the women looked beautiful in magnificent gowns (there were a few that were not great, but most were truly beautiful).  As I heard earlier (on Sunday) it’s really great that the Oscars have been presented and within a few days we can stop talking about them.  This year there was way too much talk before the ceremony and too many bits and pieces of interviews were shown…nothing was new when I actually viewed the interviews…it had already been said…be sure to see the Hurt Locker, Precious, The Blind Side, Inglourious Basterds, Up In The Air, Julie and Julia, It’s Complicated..
