Elizabeth Edwards- full of grace-has died at age 61

Elizabeth Edwards, a woman who we came to know via her husband John Edwards, has left the American public with a gift. She was a woman who was full of grace. I see her as someone who was on our radar, who campaigned with her husband, but who left a lasting impression on our lives.  She had much to deal with in terms of challenges and tragedies..having lost her son Wade to a car accident at age 16, dealing with her cancer diagnosis and being publicly embarrassed by her husband’s adultery and child with another woman.

Elizabeth wrote several books…her writing was down-to-earth, her feelings deep and understandable.

Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers

and    Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life’s Adversities .

What I saw about Elizabeth Edwards was that she was completely dedicated to her family, to her country and to doing the right thing. She was an attorney.  She was a mom.  She had a solid inner core that allowed her to see what was necessary for a situation and the people involved.  She was on-target in her thinking.  She was not reactionary, but did know when to take action.  She had a peace and a resolve about her that stood the test of time and allowed her to be a success. PERIOD.

Some definitions of the word grace:

  • (Christian theology) a state of sanctification by God; the state of one who is under such divine influence; “the conception of grace developed alongside the conception of sin”; “it was debated whether saving grace could be obtained outside the membership of the church…
  • elegance and beauty of movement or expression; “a beautiful figure which she used in subtle movements of unparalleled grace”
  • seemliness: a sense of propriety and consideration for others; “a place where the company of others must be accepted with good grace”
  • a disposition to kindness and compassion; “the victor’s grace in treating the vanquished”
  • (Greek mythology) one of three sisters who were the givers of beauty and charm; a favorite subject for sculptors

I hope Elizabeth has found peace. She left us inspired … to be our best. Because SHE put her best foot forward and kept plodding along …always leaving love and kindness wherever she had been. ….

This is MeddingMom….emulate Elizabeth…just try it…
